On the 90th anniversary of the victory of the Red Army’s Long March in 2026, Xi’an CITS, in collaboration with Xi’an Innovation Harbor Middle School (Affiliated Middle School of Xi’an Jiaotong University, Innovation Harbor), successfully launched the “Tracing the Red Footprints, Commemorating the 90th Anniversary of the Victory of the Red Army’s Long March” Yan’an Red Research and Study Special Train from April 17th to 18th. Nearly a thousand teachers and students embarked on this sacred red site, experiencing the Yan’an spirit in a mobile classroom and carrying forward the revolutionary spirit.

On the afternoon of April 17th, the departure ceremony for the educational special train was grandly held at Xianyang Station. The Xi’an CITS Educational Travel Center coordinated and planned the entire process, making meticulous arrangements from the scheduling of the special train, the design of in-car courses, to the safety emergency plan. With the long whistle blowing, the red special train slowly departed, marking the official commencement of a 300-kilometer red journey.

During the journey of the special train, the carriage transformed into a vivid ideological and political classroom. Xi’an International Travel Service, in collaboration with the school’s teacher team, created a multidisciplinary red education course – the Chinese teacher narrated the spinning wheel and war horses during the Yan’an period, the political teacher interpreted the connotation of the Long March spirit and the Yan’an spirit, the history teacher explained the historical inevitability of the Red Army’s settlement in northern Shaanxi, and the geography teacher introduced the landform and local customs of Yan’an. The melodies of red songs, such as “Nanniwan”, “Dongfanghong”, and “Wanjiang”, echoed loudly in the carriage, and the students completed their spiritual warm-up during the journey.
After the special train arrived in Yan’an, the inspiration of the sacred place came overwhelmingly. The teachers and students watched the large-scale red historical stage play “Yan’an Nursery School” together. The touching story of the revolutionary forefathers who sacrificed their own families for the greater good during the war years made many students tears in their eyes. After the performance, all the teachers and students stood up and bowed to pay tribute, achieving a belief resonance across time and space with the revolutionary forefathers.

On the second day of the study tour, teachers and students embarked on a new journey with a “reminiscing about the hardships and cherishing the sweetness of life” meal. Corn flour steamed buns, wild vegetables, and millet Congee, this simple meal made the students truly appreciate the hardships faced by the revolutionary forebears in the past, and understand the importance of cherishing the happy life they have now. Subsequently, all teachers and students listened to a special lecture on “Zhang Side’s Spirit and Serving the People”, drawing inspiration from the dedication of ordinary heroes.

In the dim morning light, teachers and students lined up neatly under Baota Mountain and recited “The Long March, an Immortal Epic” together. The sonorous and powerful recitation echoed in the valley, as the students revisited the glorious years of the Red Army’s arduous Long March and comprehended the eternal value of the Long March spirit. Party members and teachers recited “Yan’an, I Seek You” with deep emotion, carrying forward the red torch as educators.
The teachers and students also visited the Yan’an Revolutionary Memorial Hall, the Wangjiaping Revolutionary Site, and the Zaoyuan Revolutionary Site. Precious historical photos, mottled revolutionary artifacts, and detailed historical materials fully recreated the 13-year struggle of the Party Central Committee in Yan’an. In front of the revolutionary sites, everyone stopped and gazed, personally experiencing the fine style of the older generation of revolutionaries, who were hardworking, frugal, and dedicated to serving the people.

From the banks of the Wei River to the foot of the Baota Mountain, this red study tour train is another large-scale study and practice activity carefully organized by Xi’an CITS. As the undertaker, Xi’an CITS fully leveraged its local advantages in red tourism services, providing standardized and refined services throughout the entire process, from train ticketing, catering and accommodation to ground transportation and safety guarantees. A professional study tour guide team, accompanying medical staff, and emergency response plans ensured the safety, orderliness, and success of the event.
It is the responsibility of tourism professionals to inherit the red gene. Xi’an CITS will continue to refine its high-quality research and study courses, providing more professional services to enable more young people to understand history and strengthen their beliefs through travel. A special train, a two-day itinerary, thousands of students, and a spiritual baptism that transcends time and space. We are willing to be the bearers of the red torch, accompanying more young people to thrive on the journey of pursuing their original aspirations.
